Spook sure seems in a hurry to be carving on that tail. I don’t know what his deal is.

Stop by next week! Will the sphinx show up? Hampstead? Rodney?

Anything can happen!

Let’s take a break by the campfire for a little while. Whaddya say?

I should’ve brought marshmallows.

I’m busy as hell this week! Contract IT work; remote site. Lots of driving. So it might be a bit before I answer any comments.

And Rich: I’ll mail your print on Saturday! I promise. Thanks again!

My friend Rich bought a print of the “Goddess of Blades” piece I drew up last week for the upcoming Locus: Godslayer comic I’m working on. If you’re part of the Locus Comics Community over on G+, you’ve already seen it. If you’d like a print, too, let me know!

Stop by next week!

This is the barn that Spook and Silk met in, in case that wasn’t clear. If you squint, you can see Picacho Peak in the background. Spook and Silk are just on the other side of that mountain.

And it looks like the Sphinx has caught the scent!

Stop by next week! The tension builds.

Sphinxes are always rattling off riddles, even when talking to themselves.

They can’t talk any other way. Sometimes, the sphinx gets so pissed that you can’t answer her riddle that she kills you.

Looks to me like Silk has a plan.

In other news:

HEYGUESSWHAT?

Locus TPB 6 is available for sale! Head on over to the Locus Store (by clicking here) and grab a copy of your own!

Locus TPB 7 is being put together. It’s all formatted but the fan art, including awesome pieces by old Locus friend Raven Perez, Vic Couwenbergh (who’s kind enough to host my comics!), Barry Linck, and a bunch of other people. It’ll be ready soon!

Men, this is not the proper way to tell a girl you like her.

Ladies (and especially Spook fans), please excuse Spook for his drooling. In his defense, a succubus really does smell fantastic.

I hope all Silk and Spook fans are enjoying seeing these two during their very early years, even if they’re both a bit clumsy. I hope I don’t spoil anything by saying that these two won’t ultimately get together (as the kids say nowadays) in this story. They don’t even kiss (although they try! Stay tuned).

Hell, they don’t even get married till the late 1940s…about 50 years from when this story takes place. That comic is coming up next summer! I don’t have a name for it yet, other than “The Spook & Moondoggie Show”. It shows how these two get married, but it’s moreso about how Spook and Moondoggie met up. It’s fun for the whole family!

If your whole family likes monsters, blood, cussin’ and nudity. And who doesn’t?

Speaking of which: Click here to go to the Locus Store! I just added TPB 6, which collects Issues 16 through 18. I’m still putting together the last TPB. Lots of fan art and behind-the-scenes stuff to format for that, so it’s taking a little longer than expected. But it’ll be good, I promise.

Thanks for stopping by! Stop by next week for some more Spook shenanigans.

Spooknanigans?

So, Silk explains the curse in a little more detail…but Spook says she’s wrong about it.

Yes, even the monsters in this comic have their own superstitions. The Ca’Cubi especially. They used to be gods, you know. If you didn’t know that, you should go read Locus.

In other news:

The test copy of Locus TPB 5 arrived the other day, and it looks great. It’s for sale up on the Locus Store. Go get a copy!

The test copy of TPB 6 will be here soon, as well. Once I’m sure there are no mistakes, I’ll put that up for sale, too. I’m currently putting together Locus TPB 7, which collects the last two issues. There will also be some bonus material and fan art in the back of that. Stay tuned!

Also: I’m going to start putting together a podcast-type thing on YouTube. It will be about all the movies, comics, music, and other stuff that gave me inspiration for Locus, Silk & Honey, and all the comics which are still on the drawing board. I’m going to keep it down to about 30 minutes an episode. Stay tuned for that.

And stop by next week! Spook explains some things to Silk.

Panel one up there is probably my favorite picture of Silk at this point in time. When I first started drawing Locus, Silk gave me so many problems.  I should’ve drawn her in her youth first, apparently.

Funny thing is: I’m doing concept work on Silk for the upcoming Locus: Godslayer and Slip comics, and she’s going to look a little different than she did in Locus. She’ll look much more like she’s supposed to. Which will be good.

Random TPB update: those of you in Europe might have another week or two before your book arrives. To keep the costs low, I shipped everything First Class via the USPS. Which essentially means that the further you get from an English-speaking country, the longer it takes to get to you. Sorry, guys. 🙁

Good news:

I just ordered a test copy of Locus TPB 6 from Ka-Blam. The test copy of TPB 5 should be here next week sometime, too. I’ll be putting together TPB 7 (the last one) this week, and then the whole 20-issue run of Locus will be available in print form! You can buy TPBs 1 through 5 by clicking here to enter the Locus Store!

If you scroll down to the bottom of that page, you’ll see that certain pages of Silk & Honey are available for sale for the low low price of $10 a panel! As of this writing, the whole dream sequence with Silk and Eden has been sold already. I am, in fact, shipping that to you today, Craig! Should be there in less than a week. Thanks, man!

Stop by next week! Silk is gonna explain this curse thing to Spook.

The first page of Year Two! Silk and Spook take a break at the Santa Cruz River for a much-needed drink of water. You can see Picacho Peak behind them, so they’re definitely heading in the right direction.

But didn’t Hampstead say a couple pages back that he knows where they’re going? Sounds like ol’Spook needs a plan. Stay tuned!

This is the first SNH page I’ve drawn on honest-to-god bristol board since page 39…well, not including the previous two covers.

Every page from 40 through 52 were done on regular 8.5″x11″ printer paper. I ran out of bristol board in February, and when I had the money to get more, I didn’t have the time to go get it. And vice versa! haha

When I was drawing those pages, I drew one panel per sheet. Stitch it together in Photoshop. You get the idea.

Well, now I’ve got a lot of these things laying about, and I’d rather they live somewhere else.  So if you’ve always wanted some original art, but don’t have $150 for a Locus page (or $100 for a SNH page), you can get some anyway!

The original art of every panel on every page from pages 40 through 52 are for sale for $10 each. This is brush & ink artwork (sometimes pen & ink, but rarely) at 10″ wide and 5″ tall, on a sheet of regular 8.5″x11″ printer paper.

It’s gonna be $5 more for an envelope and postage, but that’s good for everyone, no matter where you live. And that $5 is good no matter how many panels you want.

If you’re interested, head over to the Locus store and scroll all the way to the bottom for more information and where you can email me about it.

And those of you who have been waiting for Locus trade paperbacks will be happy to see that the first four are on sale! Finally. Jeez!

TPB 5 should be on sale soon–I’m still waiting on the test copy to get back. I’m putting together TPB 6 this week, and TPB 7 should be done next week.

Every TPB I’ve had made so far looks absolutely fantastic. Ka-Blam prints from RGB files, not CMYK, so all the glow effects and funky lighting absolutely shines. Check ’em out!

And stop by here next week! Silk’s got something she needs to do before they get goin’.

I originally drew this to be the cover to Chapter 2. Once I was done with it, I stumbled across the sketches that I had done for yesterday’s art. I’d totally forgotten that I’d already designed the cover to Chapter 2! So this is kinda-sorta the alternate cover.

I guess. I dunno. I’m losing my mind, I think. hahaha

At any rate: I hope you dig it! It was a lot of fun to draw.

Updates will resume as normal now, so stop by again on Wednesday for the first page of the new chapter! We’ll be catching up with Silk and Spook again, and then things will get pretty weird. Many things will be explained: Hampstead’s boots, why Spook loves Silk, what a sphinx really is, that curse Eden and Silk were talking about, Sorrow’s odd question to Hampstead a couple pages ago…many things!

See you then!

Welcome to Year Two of Silk & Honey! This is also Chapter 2 (as you can see), and will be the last chapter of this particular story. That means one more year of SNH before we’re done here.

Going back to the first page and re-reading the blog post I made there…hmmm.

I mentioned a lot of crossovers. None of them got made. I think last year was busy for everyone, myself included. Real Life and Day Jobs and all that jazz…it’s got a way of getting in the way of comic-makin’.

I was going to have Slip and/or Locus: Godslayer at least started by now, too, but both comics are still in script form. I was going to start with Slip, but that one takes place 20 years after Locus, and there were so many things that happened in that 20-year time span that I decided to put Slip on hold and start up on Godslayer (or LG for short).

As of this writing (May 13), I’m still working on the script for LG. It’s a good script so far, but I gotta write it in a way to where I don’t lose any new readers. I’ve got to write it so readers don’t have to read through 20 issues of Locus unless they want to, and that’s a challenge.

Also: I’m just about done making Trade Paperbacks of all 20 issues of Locus. They’ll be collected in 7 TPBs, which will be for sale on Indyplanet.com.

Hmm…what else? I’m finishing up the last of my commissions this summer, so if you’ve been waiting on artwork, you won’t have much longer to wait.

Anything I’m forgetting? Leave a comment and I’ll answer best I can!

Oh yeah: I almost forgot! Stop by tomorrow for bonus artwork! And stop by next week for the first page of Chapter 2! Let’s get back to Spook and Silk and see what they’re up to.
