Woo hoo! Takin’ the whole crew into town!

Fun fact:

This isn’t the first time I wanted to have a Nefilim take the form of a little boy. I was originally going to have the Nefilim from Locus issue 5 take that form, but he would’ve had to share a page with a naked Isaac, and there are countries in the world where that could be considered child pornography. I didn’t want any Locus fans getting in trouble, so I changed it to the weird bondage monster get-up instead. I let him keep his wagon, though. That was just too weird a visual to lose. And now you know!

Stop by next week! You’ve never seen a Necromancer belly up to the bar in a Western Saloon before…but you will!

Hampstead’s a tough opponent. If he doesn’t know what you’re up to right when you’ve thought of it, it’s because he’s already thought of it…hours before you did.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the US, and to everyone having Thanksgiving tomorrow, I hope you have a great time! We will be having a great time here, for sure. It’s gonna be another Moroccan Thanksgiving! It’s a tradition here at the Chillmore Estates.

Gonna cook the turkey tagine-style, with saffron, honey, prunes, raisins, onions… also gonna make some homemade Moroccan bread to dip in the eggplant puree…and these will be eggplants from my own garden this year! Plus a bunch of other Moroccan dishes on the side and (of course) mint tea with honey.

If you’ve never had Moroccan food, you really ought to give it a try. It’s so good.

Stop by next week! Hampstead finishes his preparations and they pop into town. And it’s this town scene that I almost cut out of the story entirely, but I’m glad I didn’t. You’ll be glad, too!

See you then!

In case it’s unclear: When Silk woke up three pages back, it was sundown. In this scene, we’re rewinding the clock back to morning that same day, which was 10 pages back, when Silk was dreaming she was kissing Spook.

Any guesses on what’s going on with Hampstead here? When Hampstead binds his servants, he keeps a little of their Breath and puts it in a piece of crystal.

When that minion dies, the crystal goes black.

Stop by next week! This is the beginning of one of my favorite scenes in the whole story, and I’m stoked that it survived to the final draft. I actually cut this scene at one point, and I’m excited that I got to fit it back in.

It will, however, mean that Silk & Honey’s final page count will be more than the originally-planned 104 pages. Which means you’ll have to wait a little longer for next comic (tentatively titled “The Spook & Moondoggie Show”)…unless I can get worked ahead and finish this one up.

I’ve always meant to explain the difference between Masque and Sorrow, but it’s never come up in a story.

Short version: When a Necromancer creates a vampire (and there’s no other way to create a vampire), he can either feed it human blood or animal blood as its first meal.

When you feed your new vampire human blood, you end up with a vampire like Sorrow.

Pig blood (for example) will give you a Revenant like Masque.

Masque was the same as Sorrow, except she had no mind or will of her own.

They’re so cute. I just wanna pinch their cheeks. Don’t you?

They look all happy and contented…which means, of course, that something bad’s about to happen!

Next page! Check it out.

Something else you might wanna check out is Gary Cohen’s Zombie Christmas Card Kickstarter. He met his goal last week sometime, but I figured someone here needs Zombie Christmas Cards, especially ones written by the same guy who wrote the awesome riddle the Sphinx riddled just before she got shot.

Tell him I sent you!

They’re crunchy like radishes, only they don’t taste like radishes.

Silk’s not very old in this comic. Early 20s, tops.

But Spook’s been around for awhile. He’s a fan of Shakespeare because he used to sneak away to The Globe Theatre to watch Shakespeare’s plays. Silk’s about 150 years and change in the year 2013. Spook’s 400 and something.

El-Nagual means “City of the Jaguar” in the Tongue of the Ancients. I gotta go back and put that in the page at some point!

And by “Jaguar”, they mean “Were-Jaguar”, as shown in ancient Central American artwork.

Spook is quick when it comes to observation.

And tomorrow is Halloween! Post any Locus-related costumes here.

Succubi are creatures of love, after all.

This is a last-minute page, but I think  it turned out okay. It’s been pretty last-minute here the last 3 weeks or so, but  I am finally at a place where I can get back on schedule for Godslayer, Slip, and even that Secret Thing.

There are changes coming, too. Changes to my comic schedule and website and all that jazz. So stay tuned!

But…she was kissin’ on him just a few pages back! Seems like Eden’s put a lot of thought into this.

What do you think?

Eden reads a lot. When she meets Isaac later, she’s not actually a nurse. She’s a librarian.

This was a fun page to draw.

And Eden and I are alike in that the train always puts us right out.

Stop by next week!

Eden’s been busy! She’s quite a reader. You should read more, too. Get off the internet! Go read a book!

After you leave a comment, of course. 🙂

I’m still having a lot of fun drawing these two together, mainly because they look better than the first time we saw them together, way back in Locus, Issues 7 and 8.

This scene will be longer than the previous dream sequence, so strap in and have fun! I sure am.

Eden’s library still exists. The Chroniclers’ Clan is a large one, and there is always someone to step up and continue a library. Dee’s library became Sable’s library, and both of those are still going, too.

Locus: Godslayer has a whole subplot devoted to all these libraries.
