Finally! Silk can get out of that torn, dirty dress.

Er…into some dirty clothes found on a dead Apache. Not much of a trade-up, to be sure, but at least she won’t smell like succubus anymore!

Besides, I think it’ll go well with the hat.

Next week! Be here. Something bad is about to happen.

And, as usual, Silk and Spook’s lovey-dovey time is interrupted by death and fire. It’s a recurring theme with these two, although we’re just now seeing the start of it.

Tune in next week! Silk finally gets a change of clothes. Poor girl’s been running around in a dirty, torn dress all this time.

So, the big deal at the start of Silk & Honey was the idea that Silk would use her succubus wiles on everyone around her and make them fall in love with her.

There does indeed seem to be some falling in love going on, but not quite in the direction that was suggested! With that said, this isn’t gonna turn into a romance comic. In fact, violence and weirdness are just around the corner! This is the start of one of the final two scenes of our story, and I’m excited to wrap things up. Why? I’m glad you asked!

Because I’m also working on Locus: Godslayer! That’s right. Scripts are being written, pages are being drawn. Looks like LG will be 12 issues in length. Not quite as long as the previous Locus comic, but that’s because my writing’s tightened up since then–in no small part thanks to Silk & Honey.

I will also be starting work on the as-yet-untitled comic of how Spook met Moondoggie. These comics will be running concurrently. These things will be happening this year! So let me know how you’d like to be alerted when these things happen. I have a Facebook Page, a Google+ Community, and even a neglected Twitter account. Sign up for one or all three! Whatever works best for you. I’ll be posting here, too, of course.

Between now and then, I’m running a fun little special:

If you order any original artwork at all (whether Locus, Silk & Honey, or even your own commission idea), I will throw in a free one-of-a-kind sketch card for you. Here’s how it works:

You pick your favorite Locus character and a question you’d like to ask about them. I will draw this character on the card for you (full-color with brush & ink and watercolor pencils) and answer your question on the back.

Hell, you don’t even have to buy original artwork. You can just buy a card if you like. They’re an industry-standard $20 each, with free shipping worldwide. Click here for the first two I’ve done already! That’s right. The front cover and inside front cover to LG have already sold, and these are the cards that went with them. I hope you like them!

(my scanner doesn’t like watercolors for some reason…the originals are much more vibrant than what you see above)

And there you go! Lots of Locus news! And lots more coming. I’m ramped up and ready to go. I hope you join me!

And that’s the end of the Hampstead scene I almost cut out of the comic. I hope you liked it!

Thanks to everyone who left a comment on that little Locus: Godslayer sneak peek last week! As noted awhile back, Comic-Makin’ Brother Raven Perez has lit the fire under my ass and LG is being worked on as we speak. In fact, here’s my schedule:

There are 2 more scenes left for Silk & Honey. I’ve got them loosely plotted out, but not written in stone yet. However, by the time you read this, they will be. I’m guessing another 20 pages, maybe. Seems like the average Silk & Honey scene is about 10 pages long. Might be more; might be less. We’ll see!

I’m gonna crank those pages out and get worked ahead to the point of DONE, then I will begin full-time work on LG! Canadian Renaissance Man Victor Couwenbergh is on track to help me put together the Godslayer site, which will be slick and sexy. And the pages will be 850 pixels wide, instead of the 750px I’ve been doing for Locus and Silk & Honey. We did a test page awhile back, and it looks good. Total candy for your eyeballs. You’ll love it.

And that’s not all! But I’ve got more behind the scenes work to do before I spill any more beans. Between now and then, if you have any friends (Real or Internet!) who would dig some cowboys and monsters, send them here! And if you know anyone who digs deep philosophical questions couched in action-packed scenes featuring topless swordfighting, supernatural motherfuckery and interdimensional horrors, send them here, too!

If you don’t, that’s okay. I still think you’re cool.

Stop in next week! Let’s catch up with Silk and Spook, whaddya say?

Well, so much for the bartender. At least Sorrow and the creepy Nefilim boy won’t be disturbed while they wait for Silk and Spook.

And what of our heroes? We haven’t seen them for nine whole pages already, which is almost two months at the rate this comic updates!

We’ll have one more page of Hampstead and his Nefilim next week, then we’ll get back to Everyone’s Favorite Monster Couple, whaddya say?

In other news…have you seen this yet? Check it out if you haven’t! That’s some Locus: Godslayer sneak-peekin’ right there. I spent a whole day the other day revisiting all the fun comments and discussions going on under every Locus page. I’m curious to see if the rest of the Locus fans will come out of the woodwork at some point. I hope so!

As for you guys: thanks for sticking around after Locus ended! You’ll be the first to see the new Godslayer stuff. It’ll be on its own site, not tacked onto the end of Locus like that link above.

And for those of you who kept trying to create a Wikipedia page for Locus, please consider this an alternative if you’re still interested in that sort of thing. Tera S has set up her own SuccuWiki, and she’s an old friend of the comic, so I know that no one’s work will get deleted from that site.

Anyhow, stop by next week! Let’s wrap up this scene and get ready for The Showdown!

Five-way showdown! Only the Necromancer wins.

And now they’re his eternal undead servants. Like Ringwraiths, only with a Texas drawl.

I have good news for you today! Raven’s decided that his New Year’s Resolution this year is to nag me incessantly about Locus: Godslayer, and I gotta admit: that comic’s overdue. I had some script issues I only just now got figured out, not to mention all the illustration work I had last year. Thanks to everyone who bought commissions and custom artwork last year! You guys kept me afloat.

I am, finally, getting some REAL work done on this comic, now that the script issues are fixed. Gonna upload this page and get to work on the cover! I’ll post the cover to my G+ group and possibly Facebook, too. Stay tuned!

Happy New Year!

“Dammit, Adam Black,” you’re saying right now, “I’m too hung over to figure out what’s going on in today’s page!” Well, let me explain:

Hampstead is referring to Billy, whom we saw waaaay back at the beginning of this story. You know: the “shoot your boss” dude. Billy was a lot like the Necromancer in Locus: he had tattoos on his skin, meant to be used for personal protection.

Now Billy’s tattoos are personal protection for Hampstead. That’s how Hampstead rolls.

So why is Hampstead barefoot in Locus? Because he didn’t need them anymore.

Funny thing is: the book Hampstead’s referring to is the same book the German stole to create The Gun. Hampstead still thinks Billy took it. Maybe he’ll find that out later. Stay tuned!

So what’s your New Year’s Resolution? Mine is to get a job working for First Comics. Wish me luck!

Regarding the tattoos Hampstead is now wearing on his boots: They’re Necromantic spells of protection, much the same as the tattoos we saw on the Necromancer from Locus issue 3.

The Sepharans have (“had”, rather) a different language and a different alphabet. This is the Tongue of the Ancients, which was the first human language.

It was the first language of the old gods, too.

I’ll go into it more once Locus: Godslayer gets up and runnin’.

Today is Christmas at my house! If it’s Christmas at your house today, too, I hope you have an awesome one. Thanks for stopping by, no matter what you’re up to today.

I had some stuff to tell you, but I couldn’t get ahold of Raven in time, so it’ll have to wait till next week…or, technically next year.

Stop by next Wednesday! New Year’s Day! You will get to see the weirdest Bad Guy Speech ever. And maybe that stuff I wanted to tell you this week. We’ll see!

Hampstead knows Spook. He knows that Spook won’t show himself (and especially not Silk) to any Indigeni. He’s hoping that Spook has killed someone here…if not to eat, then to give their clothes to Silk.

Oh, Spook, how are you gonna outwit Hampstead? I’m scared for you.

As an aside: the klik klik sound effects in panel one are these four cowboys loading their guns. I was gonna put in a close up, but I totally rushed this page. Just drew it yesterday! Sorry. 🙁

I’ll put that close up on the next page, I promise. Until then, let me know why you think four rough-looking cowboys are up at this early hour, loading up a bunch of pistols and rifles.

(I gave you a hint, but it was waaaay back in June)

And here we go!

This whole comic is pretty much my love letter to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, which is the greatest western movie ever made.

Lee Van Cleef’s character was named Setenza in that movie, although no one ever called him by name.

I was going to name the Ael Setenza for this comic, but decided not to. Mainly because it’s not a very Ael-like name.

Yay random trivia!
